so now i have a name for the concept - micro donations. this guy is doing it - but nowhere near what im thinking:

my spin on the concept:

- a platform that allows anyone accepting e-commerce to allow their customers to round up their purchases (from amazon.com on down to anyone taking paypal)

- a platform that gives all credit/debit card issuers the ability for their customers to opt in for purchase round up

- an off line system that allows brick and mortar stores to give their customers the option to round up their purchases

im not gone run off down the trail half cocked and super hyped like we normally do. i woke up about an hour ago and ideas and inspiration have been bombarding me.

good morning gary -

first i wanted to say that i deeply appreciate how much you support the bootstrap community with your info and advice.

i had an inspired business idea this morning and i wanted to see if you think its a viable concept. godaddy has a program where you can click a button to round up your purchases to the nearest dollar with the extra going to a charity they support.

brilliant and simple.

so i wondered if you think theres a sustainable business model in terms of being a facilitator between non-profits and businesses to make it seamless for any business to set up a system like that...for both ecommerce and brick and mortar purchases. it would basically be like putting the give-a-penny take-a-penny concept on steroids.
